The Fall of Crete

Overview of the story

In their inexorable campaign to conquer Europe, the Germans eventually forced the British and its allies to retreat from mainland Greece and entrench on the island of Crete.

In May 1941, German paratroopers were dropped into the west of Crete. Within ten days, the Allies had been forced to retreat to Egypt.

Nikolis Kastellorisios tells us his experiences of those dark days.
